Le Cerisier
St Ciers sur Bonnieure
Holiday House in La Charente, South West France

Welcome
Set in the rolling landscape of the Charente region of south west France, bordered by meadows and sunflower fields, you will find Le Cerisier, a stone Charentaise house with its spectacular wisteria and rose covered arbour leading to the main entrance, the pool, beautiful gardens and cherry tree orchard, where the house gets its name,
Le Cerisier.

The House
The charming 18th century stone Charentaise house has its origins as the Abbots residence in this small country village and is set behind a private gated entrance within beautiful gardens. The house is light and airy and elegantly furnished in a country French style and retains its original 18th century ceiling beams, wide wooden floorboards and lovely details from the epoch while still providing the guest with modern-day home comforts and its
welcoming atmosphere.
The owners, Susie and Laurence welcome you on your arrival, show you around the house and are available for any questions you may have during your stay.

Accomodation
DOWNSTAIRS
Crunch along the gravel path through the wisteria and rose covered arbour to the original 18th century door flanked by two trailing ivy wrought iron planters. It opens to the lobby and to your right is a utility room and to your left is a large comfortable living room with chimney place, wood burning stove and French doors to the terrace. The living room leads on to a separate kitchen and from there French doors open to the terrace with views of the garden and pool.

Accomodation
UPSTAIRS
Take the staircase trimmed with Bordeaux wine case ends to the three charming bedrooms all with views to the garden or arbour heights.
A small bathroom and seperate toilet & hand basin complete this floor.

The Garden
The gravel driveway leads through the arched gate to the box tree gardens and shaded sitting places beneath the trees. A place to relax and read or perhaps take a stroll through the orchard to the meadow. The lilac and pom-pom hydrangea trees
put on a great show in April and May
giving way to the roses and the summer delights of lavender and hybiscus. Autumn dresses the garden in vermilion with Boston ivy and gold with September crocus. The smell of smoke from log fires drifts from chimneys as winter sets in and holly berries and hellebore flowers are picked for the Christmas table.

The Terrace & Pool
French doors from the kitchen lead to the partly covered terrace with a table and chairs for al fresco eating. There is a pool with sliding cover for shade or sun as you prefer and extends the use of the pool in spring and autumn. The pool is equipped with pool loungers and there is a seperate small room with a fitness machine & bike.
